Carbon Accounting Consultant - UK Based

Position Overview

World Kinect (WK) is seeking a UK-based Carbon Accounting Consultant to deliver Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon accounting services and provide dedicated support to external customers. This role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to scope and deliver tailored carbon reporting services and regulatory support, assisting clients with their obligations under government legislation, regulatory frameworks, and internally mandated energy and carbon emissions reduction objectives.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the rest of the Carbon Accounting Team, the role holder will be responsible for:

• Client Ownership: Owning clients and supporting them through their Carbon Accounting journey via our centralized platform.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Acting as the subject matter expert and providing support on a wide range of energy and carbon legislative and global reporting requirements, such as SECR, CSRD, UK ETS, CCA’s, and CHPQA.
• Regulatory Awareness: Staying updated on regulatory changes and best practices in carbon accounting and compliance.
• Data Analytics: Focusing on data analytics and management to inform client carbon accounting strategies and decarbonization projects.
• Data Validation: Supporting clients in planning, assembling, and validating energy and carbon data for legislative compliance and emissions reporting.
• Performance Reporting: Preparing and presenting formal performance reports to clients.
• Auditing & Assurance: Carrying out internal auditing of data and compliance, and supporting assurance activities.
• Internal Support: Supporting Service Delivery and Commercial teams within World Kinect as a Subject Matter Expert.
• Workstream Management: Managing the delivery of all associated workstreams and customer expectations.
• Platform Knowledge: Advancing practical platform knowledge across our carbon accounting solution.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Working with key stakeholders such as Global Data Management, Product, and IT in troubleshooting challenges and enhancements across the customer journey.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in carbon accounting and carbon management.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
• Knowledge of global carbon reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Solid understanding of carbon accounting methodologies.
• Proven customer-facing experience working with complex carbon concepts.
• Experience in compliance reporting for UK SECR and other UK voluntary schemes.
• Familiarity with other international reporting frameworks such as CDP, GRI, SBTI etc. is advantageous.
• Solid numeracy skills, confidence in working with large data sets, and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent English and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Confident relationship-builder.
• Excellent client management and project management skills.
• Enjoy speaking with customers, strong social skills.
