Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute strategies for complex categories to achieve profit and loss deliverables and meet customer needs
  • Manage all aspects of merchandise profit and loss, including forecasts, sales, markdowns, coop collection, market share growth, gross profit, inventory targets/budgets, and pricing
  • Communicate and report results to cross-functional partners, review post-buy financial analysis, and identify records for review
  • Develop category strategies aligned with merchant framework and portfolio strategies using multiple data sources
  • Conduct item level assortment analysis, make assortment decisions, and perform needs analysis for priority sub-categories
  • Optimize vendors and SKUs, develop price ladders, private label/brand strategies
  • Visit stores to build category strategy and price ladders for priority sub-categories
  • Proactively communicate strategies to leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Initiate, negotiate, and manage vendor agreements, costs, allowances/terms, quality, and delivery to drive supplier performance
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships (domestic and overseas)
  • Handle all aspects of category marketing: tab space planning based on historical analysis, item level planning, selection, placement forecasting, execution, accuracy proofing, and exit strategies for residue
