Responsibilities

  • Execute Private Brand sourcing strategies for assigned categories, including direct imports for Private Brand and National Brand items, to maximize margin and profitable sales
  • Develop complex sourcing strategies for assigned products by collaborating with cross-functional business partners to understand product demand
  • Serve as subject-matter and industry expert for multiple commodities and items, overseeing sourcing programs at the item level, and influencing business partners to bring product and packaging innovation to market
  • Align sourcing strategy with the annual operating plan of merchants, providing perishability and quality insights to guide merchandise flow and replenishment decisions
  • Incorporate company growth strategies into planning, such as growth in direct imports
  • Create complex vendor decision matrices by evaluating new and existing vendors based on performance metrics and long-term potential
  • Negotiate with vendors to obtain products at the lowest sustainable costs, track awarded costs against actual costs, ensure cost keys are accurate, and inform planners and merchants of changes affecting the cost of goods
  • Develop strategic vendor relationships with multi-year contracts for business continuity
  • Identify, develop, and maintain supplier relationships that meet company financial, ethical, and sustainability standards
  • Assess and develop vendor capabilities, conduct quarterly performance reviews, and resolve vendor issues
  • Drive execution of business plans and projects, remove barriers, provide resources, and develop contingency plans
  • Ensure associates receive supervision and development opportunities, promote company policies and values, and evaluate the effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives
  • Support community outreach events
