Position Overview

The Business Intelligence Engineer 2 solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. This role's work assignments will impact both Medicare and Medicaid and are varied, frequently requiring interpretation and independent determination of appropriate courses of action. The Business Intelligence Engineer II describes the tools, technologies, applications, and practices used to collect, integrate, analyze, and present an organization's raw data to create insightful and actionable business information. This individual understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. This individual makes decisions regarding their own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction, receiving guidance where needed. This individual follows established guidelines and procedures.

$66,800 - $91,100 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data analysis
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience with SQL and Access
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivots, charts, and graphs
  • Experience auditing large data sets (millions of rows of data) and mining for errors
  • Expertise in assessing complex data sets and performing root cause analysis

Work-At-Home Requirements

  • A minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended.
  • A wireless, wired cable, or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections can be used only if approved by leadership.
  • Associates who live and work from home in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
  • Humana will provide home or hybrid home/office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
  • Must work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in Azure or other data systems.
  • Experience with data mining and predictive modeling techniques and automation.
  • Ability to use data to drive business outcomes and decisions.
