Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in freight brokerage, carrier sales, dispatching, logistics or transportation preferred but not required
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, relationship-building skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the trucking market, capacity trends, and rate fluctuations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong computer proficiency and familiarity with TMS software and load boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop)
  • Customer-service oriented with a results-driven mindset
  • Excellent communication and time-management abilities

Responsibilities

  • Make a minimum of 100 calls and 50 postings per day
  • Source and onboard new shipper accounts through cold calling, referrals, and marketing outreach
  • Source, onboard, and develop relationships with trucking companies and owner-operators
  • Negotiate rates and lanes with customers to ensure profitability and market competitiveness as well as confirm capacity for customer loads
  • Match available freight with appropriate carrier partners based on service, equipment, and cost
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both shippers and carriers
  • Coordinate and schedule freight shipments, ensuring timely pickup and delivery
  • Maintain carrier compliance with safety, insurance, and regulatory standards
  • Monitor and track shipments in real time; proactively address any service issues or delays
  • Leverage load boards and internal systems to build and maintain carrier networks
  • Ensure all freight documentation is accurate and complete, including rate confirmations, BOLs, and invoices
  • Use TMS (Transportation Management System) and load boards to post and manage loads
  • Maintain knowledge of market conditions, capacity, and seasonal trends
  • Collaborate with accounting to ensure timely billing and payment collection
