Demonstrated, progressive benefit experience including designing and leading the strategy for a large national organization including wellbeing, paid time off and leaves, health and welfare as well as retirement plans (DC and DB)
Demonstrated progressively complex experience leading through a team the design of benefit programs, measuring effectiveness and governance
Experience managing complex vendor relationships including RFPs, RFIs, working through scorecards, root cause analyses, etc
Management experience of senior subject matter experts
Excellent planning, project management, and communication skills including persuasion, education and transfer of knowledge
Responsibilities
Manages the Benefit function area. Conducts the performance management process, identifies training and development needs, and establishes performance standards for the team
Develops, implements, and evaluates all benefits and well-being programs in the region
Reviews current legislation and recommends appropriate benefit plan changes and improvements to senior management and ensures that benefit plans are in compliance with current legislated requirements in conjunction with our legal team
Leads the communication strategy and planning for regional partnering with the communication and learning and development team
Responsible for the development and implementation of cost effective benefit policies and programs designed to accomplish corporate business objectives
Participates in developing the business unit strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit. Follows through to ensure that objectives are met
Develops unit(s) budget and manages the expenses for the unit
Determines staffing needs, makes hiring and firing decisions, and ensures resources are available to accomplish priorities
Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication
Accountable for performance management process and staffing for the unit
