Backend Software Engineer Intern - Intelligent Classification Platform

Position Overview
Proofpoint’s Intelligent Classification Platform team in Singapore is looking for a Backend Software Engineer Intern to join a multi-cultural and dynamic team. The team focuses on developing data protection software based on artificial intelligence to ensure the safety of all data within an organization.
As a Backend Software Engineer Intern, you will be involved in adding new features to the stack and will participate in all agile software development processes, including feature kick-offs, daily stand-ups, and regular retrospectives. You will work closely with experienced engineers and product team members to deliver high-quality results.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of new features for the Intelligent Classification Platform.
- Participate in agile software development methodologies.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and product team members.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
Qualifications
- Able to commit to an internship assignment for a minimum of 4 months.
- Good team player with strong problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Technical Skills:
- NodeJS or Python with previous experience in school or personal projects.
- Knowledge of Express.js, Flask, or any other MVC framework and its best practices.
- Experience using databases (PostgreSQL, Redis).
- Knowledge of APIs (REST).
- Knowledge of message queues, microservices, and Docker is a plus.
Candidate Profile
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree and in good standing.
- Ability and interest in working full-time (a maximum of 40 hours/week) in our Singapore office.
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with enthusiastic individuals.
