Job Description: Domain Expert (Eastern Europe, Central Asia & Russia)

Employment Type: Full-time

Location Type: Remote (United Kingdom or Ireland) or Hybrid

Working Hours: Core hours of 7:00 am - 3:00 pm UK GMT/BST. Requires rotational weekend work and potential projects/meetings outside of business hours.


Position Overview

Dataminr's Domain Experts are crucial to our success, ensuring the highest quality alerts for our clients and advancing our AI platform. As a Domain Expert, you will examine and analyze data feeds, annotating, labeling, and editing signals in real-time. You will be integral to our algorithm training process and our human-AI feedback loop, embedding key knowledge domains into our AI models. You will also play a key role in defining new factors to enhance our alerts, data source coverage, machine learning, and AI models.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an expert on Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Russian geopolitical developments and relevant data sources to improve our AI models.
  • Monitor and analyze the quality of our data feeds.
  • Annotate and label complex real-time events.
  • Own and develop projects to improve the performance of our AI models in real-time event detection.
  • Make real-time decisions with incomplete data.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders across all offices to support region-specific training.
  • Collaborate and communicate daily priorities in a team-centric environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. A concentration in Political Science, Russian Language Studies, Eastern Europe Studies, Security/Conflict Studies, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to monitor and analyze data with strong online research skills in a fast-paced environment, in Russian and English. Ukrainian, Belarusian, or Slavic languages are a plus.
  • An understanding of geopolitical risk and world events.
  • Passion for breaking news, current world events, technology, and a strong understanding of both social media and publicly-available data.
  • Ability to interpret and succinctly describe ongoing, complex events with incomplete data.
  • Enthusiastic approach to innovation and strategic thinking.
  • Ideally, previous experience working in a real-time information environment.
