Requirements

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and be an active member of the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with a minimum of five years of legal experience, including at least three years of experience in healthcare law. Strong knowledge of healthcare laws and the regulatory framework, particularly concerning data privacy, data security, Anti-Kickback, Self-Referral, Controlled Substances, and telemedicine laws, is required. Familiarity with FDA regulations and Food Drug and Cosmetic Act involving medical devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

The Associate Corporate Counsel will draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including vendor service agreements, physician contracts, and managed care agreements, ensuring alignment with applicable healthcare laws and fairness. They will research and monitor changes in federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, provide guidance to clinical and corporate staff on relevant legal topics, and support external counsel on litigation matters. The role involves advising clinicians on mitigation techniques of adverse licensure actions and malpractice actions, coordinating investigations, evaluating terminations, and collaborating with management to identify and mitigate legal risks. Additionally, the Counsel will support Human Resources and Credentialing Department on investigations and apply business deal-making and negotiation acumen with external vendors and payors.
