This role leads the preparation, negotiation, and finalization of contracts for an assigned workload of sites. The position involves liaising with clients and internal teams, ensuring quality, objectivity, and risk analysis in contract delivery, and serving as a lead contact for clients.

Essential Functions

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize agreements with study sites according to established processes.
  • Negotiate investigator grant budgets, contractual terms, and conditions within approved parameters, considering company, client, and site-specific requirements.
  • Communicate and train assigned teams on approved contract templates, processes, negotiation parameters, and client expectations.
  • Ensure partnership, quality alignment with terms and conditions, processes, and client expectations with team members.
  • Identify and assess legal, financial, and operational risks based on company and client contractual considerations.
  • Act as a lead regional interface and critical issue contact for external clients regarding term and condition revisions outside of approved parameters, client expectations, and process deviations.
  • Provide recommendations and alternative resolutions for contract negotiations to internal and external clients.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to coordinate site startup activities impacted by contractual activities within agreed timelines.
  • Complete tracking and reporting as required.
  • Contribute to change initiatives within the department.
  • Conduct periodic quality reviews and peer feedback reports.
  • Assist with training material preparation or delivery of training to team members.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
  • Previous experience (comparable to 3+ years) providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
  • Equivalency of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven understanding of regional principles of contract law, including laws influencing contract language (business, intellectual property, local tax, and stamp laws).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply basic principles of investigator grant negotiation.
  • General understanding of business, contractual, and financial principles related to service agreements.
  • Effective social skills (verbal & written) in English and the local language.
  • Capability to draft and negotiate contract provisions and budgetary issues within parameters.
  • Proven attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Proven depth of knowledge and expertise in clinical drug development and trial processes within the pharmaceutical and/or CRO industry.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Solid understanding of PPD SOP & WPDs.
  • Ability to logically coordinate priorities and review outstanding contractual risks and issues.
  • Ability to demonstrate a customer-focused style of communication, problem-solving, and collaboration.
  • Ability to effectively use automated systems and computer applications.
  • Flexibility to multitask and prioritize competing demands/workload.
