Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred (pre-employment assessment required if lacking)
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to assemble parts and follow work instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members
  • Skilled at using a variety of small hand tools
  • Prior experience with blueprints and precision measuring devices (plus)
  • Previous aircraft experience or sheet metal work (preferred)
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in noise levels from quiet to extremely loud
  • Required to wear PPE (eye, ear, foot protection)
  • May lift/move up to 10-50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Work from process specifications, work orders, blueprints, rework tags, schedules, schematics, layout sheets, engineering orders, and verbal/written instructions
  • Provide hands-on training for all new assembly hires, working one-on-one
  • Assist Supervisor and Lead in the Assembly department
  • Interpret documents/instructions to determine sequence and methods for assembling and repairing sheet metal products
  • Pull parts from bin and report shortages to Supervisor
  • Work with different gauges/types of sheet metal aluminum per specifications
  • Clean components and load parts onto jig/fixture
  • Drill, ream, rivet, fit, countersink, adjust, finish, and inspect parts to meet specifications
  • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces
  • Call for inspection
  • Work off rework to engineering to eliminate non-conformance
  • Scrutinize job facets and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, or unusual conditions to Supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
