Candidates should have expertise in OpenAPI 3.x, AsyncAPI, GraphQL, and gRPC standards. A strong understanding of Postman Governance, including Spectral custom functions (ES6/CommonJS), Collections/Workspaces, Collection Runner/Newman, and Monitors, is required. Experience defining governance KPIs and feedback loops using Postman Insights or equivalent API quality signals is necessary. Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Bitbucket, along with Git workflows, is also essential. The role requires scripting and automation skills, particularly with Node.js.
The API Governance Specialist will create and maintain Spectral rulesets, author style guides and governance playbooks, and publish reference CI/CD pipelines. They will lead enablement workshops, build internal training assets, and write executive POVs and "How to Use Postman" guides. The specialist will partner with Product to channel customer feedback and shape roadmaps, and collaborate across regions to harmonize rulesets with geography-specific standards. Key outcomes include delivering vertical governance rulesets for specific industries, reflecting regional standards in guidance, equipping Field teams with reusable assets, influencing governance solutions at customer accounts, publishing best-practice content, and synthesizing customer feedback into product proposals.
