Requirements

  • RN licensure (able to perform treatments if appropriately licensed)
  • Technically proficient in dialysis department operations and knowledge of industry practices and business principles
  • Ability to manage tactical execution of short- and long-term objectives, including costs, methods, and staffing
  • Understanding of current business trends, profit and loss statements, and financial monitoring (e.g., medical supply inventory, personnel, accounts payable)
  • Expertise in Acute Care Electronic System (ACES)
  • Knowledge of dialysis and related services (e.g., hemoperfusion, apheresis, continuous renal replacement therapies, peritoneal dialysis, UF complete)
  • Familiarity with hospital regulations, survey readiness (TJC, CMS, OSHA), and QAI (Quality Assurance and Improvement) data management

Responsibilities

  • Manage tactical execution of short- and long-term objectives through coordination of activities, with direct responsibility for results including costs, methods, and staffing
  • Monitor costs/spending in all areas (medical supply inventory, personnel, accounts payable) and determine innovative ways to reduce costs while maintaining quality
  • Ensure proper staffing and operations at all contracted facilities, including efficient staff/patient scheduling and utilization while maintaining a safe environment
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development plans for direct reports; partner with HR on employee matters; hire, coach, counsel, conduct performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and terminations
  • Act as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and resolve technical problems
  • Take initiative to respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues timely
  • Collaborate with contracted facility representatives for survey readiness (internal/external agencies), resolve survey-related issues, maintain/prepare QAI data and presentations, participate/present at meetings
  • Interact with internal departments and external customers for problem resolution, acting as industry expert
  • Ensure compliance with hospital regulations and participate in surveys (TJC, CMS, OSHA, etc.)
  • Develop and ensure proper orientation/training programs and continuing in-services for clinical/technical staff; maintain documentation
  • Conduct and document regular acute staff meetings
  • Ensure provision of dialysis and related services (hemoperfusion, apheresis, continuous renal replacement therapies, peritoneal dialysis, UF complete) if contracted
  • Ensure treatment information is documented appropriately, oversee timely and accurate billing
  • If licensed, perform treatments during high census, staffing shortages, or to manage costs
  • Confer with Technical Program Manager and Technical Operations Manager on preventative maintenance, machine repairs, infection control, culturing, water testing, logging, equipment/supply transportation
  • Provide direct supervision and coordination of inpatient staff; responsible for low volume monthly treatments
