Pursuing studies in Actuarial Science or related field (implied for 2026 internship recruitment)
Available for full-time hybrid work in downtown Toronto office
Responsibilities
Support quarterly and annual valuation and financial reporting activities under US Statutory & US Tax, US GAAP, IFRS17 & LICAT, Economic Capital, and Bermuda Statutory bases (Actuarial Analytics & Insight, Protection)
Perform miscellaneous reserve calculations, reconciliations, and analysis
Verify and understand actuarial assumptions
Calculate reserves and capital requirements from first principles
Assist with reserve sensitivities and scenario testing
Perform valuation model spot-checks under various accounting and regulatory bases using AXIS actuarial software, including independent validation for sample policies (Valuation, Capital)
Confirm the accuracy and completeness of valuation data
Document and explain results
Support other activities and projects as needed
Implement changes in the AXIS actuarial model
Test the impact of various valuation system changes
Participate in various other investigations
Play a key role in the annual North American protection experience analysis to feed into valuation assumptions (Research & Development)
Apply statistical methods in the calibration of the divisional economic capital model via the "quantifying insurance risk" framework
Contribute to the development of key assumptions (mortality, longevity, critical illness, and disability) through analysis of internal and external data
Work with tools such as Excel, R, SQL, and Tableau to support improvements across processes, tools, models, and documentation, and challenge current practices
Take a key role in the quote process ensuring high technical standards and timely delivery of experience analyses and pricing (Savings & Retirement, Deal Pricing)
