Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience
CPA certification preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
Experience with accounting software (such as NetSuite or similar systems)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel and Word
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
Must be free from substance abuse and able to maintain professional conduct at all times
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data privacy standards
Participation in ongoing compliance and professional development training (e.g., harassment prevention, CPR/First Aid, mandated reporter training)

Responsibilities

Process journal entries, account reconciliations, and analyses to support the monthly close process
Prepare and review monthly financial data, including assets, liabilities, and payroll entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Reconcile accounts each month to maintain accurate ledgers and reporting integrity
Assist with both internal and external audits, including preparation of required documentation
Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and internal controls in compliance with GAAP and other applicable standards
Support the preparation of government filings and tax-related documentation
Prepare and maintain complex financial reports and records in accordance with state and federal regulations
Collaborate with various departments to analyze revenues, expenses, payroll allocations, and cost containment efforts across grants and contracts
Mentor accounting staff and support the development of best practices across the accounting team
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
