Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Safety
Minimum of one (1) plus years of experience in operational activities
Valid Class D Driver’s License
Knowledge of Electric Overhead, Underground, Substation practices and procedures and Gas Service, Distribution, Supply, Instrumentation & Regulation, System Operation’s practices and procedures (preferred)
Knowledge of construction site safety (preferred)
Knowledge of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and federal regulations (OSHA and DOT) safety laws, and State Departments of Public Safety requirements as they pertain to the electric and gas industries (preferred)
Excellent communications skills
Ability to operate a computer, learn company utilized software, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
Willingness to learn about utility safety and utility operations
Willing to work indoors and outdoors in all weather and maneuver utility construction and maintenance sites
Available to travel primarily within assigned region between MA/CT/NH and occasionally beyond to attend special meetings/training/conferences or during emergency events
Willing to respond to emergency situations outside normal responsibilities, work hours, and location
Subject to pre-assignment and random drug testing (safety-sensitive position)
Responsibilities
Rotate through multiple functions in safety (gas, water, electric) under direction of manager or Lead Safety Advisor
Present on learnings and accomplishments after each rotation
Assist in day-to-day support of the Safety Team
Complete safety observations of day-to-day operational activities
Undergo comprehensive training curriculum, including basic company knowledge training and safety regulatory compliance training
Aid in completion of safety job site observations, field safety compliance audits, SIF precursor monitoring, and facility safety compliance audits
Complete rotations under supervision in selected electric and gas departments (e.g., electric overhead, underground, meter services, substation; gas construction, distribution, meter services, instrumentation & regulation, LNG) and support groups (fleet, warehouse, facilities)
Assist in incident management and analysis, hazard assessment, safety improvement plan development, and other tasks to improve workplace safety
Develop relationships with customers from every level within the organization
Develop knowledge and skills relating to safety advisory and comprehension of operational aspects of gas and electric businesses
Present to Safety Leadership periodically on Cohort Program progress
