Requirements

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Production Manager or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP's organization, culture, and product lines

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the scheduling and coordination of trucks and drivers according to customer requests and in compliance with DOT regulations and company rules
  • Control departmental expenses and generate solutions to issues as and before they arise
  • Notify drivers of assignments; review and verify the accuracy of driver's logs and database
  • Manage and schedule all outbound and inbound loads and coordinate with sales and production
  • Coordinate proper loading and shipping orders with S/R personnel
  • Set up all loads to be shipped by common carrier with outside freight companies
  • Ensure inbound product is stored properly
  • Determine mode of transportation and select the appropriate carrier
  • Negotiate rates for transportation services
  • Coordinate routing of orders and dispatch carrier with orders and appropriate delivery instructions consistent with customer receiving times
  • Ensure all internal/external paperwork meets all Universal as well as DOT regulations and procedures
  • Establish delivery/receiving appointments and loading times for each carrier
  • Manage internal UFP equipment and drivers
  • Answer questions and resolve supplier and customer problems regarding transportation issues
  • Document any shortage on orders, investigate reasons for occurrence, and inform carrier of shortage to get compensation or to resolve an issue with the customer with assistance of sales
  • Audit and approve freight bills for payment
  • File claims for any loss or damage on inventory and notify plant management
  • Take and act upon all calls for tracing and/or expediting orders
  • Prepare various reports and correspondence as required
  • Manage data on the data system
  • Perform other duties as required
