Responsibilities

  • Monitor and improve shop floor safety, eliminating unsafe processes
  • Assure fixtures, tooling, and processes are followed to meet production schedules
  • Determine priorities and sequences of jobs
  • Schedule and prioritize constrained resources, adjusting staff to meet flow and customer requirements
  • Determine and execute disciplinary action when appropriate
  • Ensure production material is procured and distributed to meet production schedules
  • Increase production efficiency through continuous improvement and waste elimination
  • Determine overtime needs and priorities when resources are insufficient
  • Ensure preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule
  • Identify and lead deployment of workforce training
  • Actively deploy section value stream improvements using Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma
  • Develop and deploy standard work for each work area
  • Practice and coach Caterpillar Production System (CPS) guiding principles
