Requirements

Degree in Health and Safety or any equivalent qualifications
A minimum of 4 - 5 years of relevant work experience
Experience in corporate environment would be a definite advantage
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage critical path and deadlines
Good analytical skills, detail-oriented, knowledge of safety procedures
Registered Safety and Health Officer employed in compliance with section 30 of the OSHA Act
Certified through recognized bodies
Strong administrative skills

Responsibilities

Promoting healthy and safe working methods and practices in the workplace
Identifying, recording and reporting hazards, accidents, injuries and health issues
Assisting with investigation of accidents, studying possible causes and providing remedial advice
Conducting health and safety training sessions for management, supervisors and workers
Assisting with rehabilitation of workers after accidents and overseeing their successful return to work
Coordinating emergency procedures and first aid crews
Developing OHS plans and monitoring compliance
Regularly inspecting the workplace and related tools and equipment to ensure compliance with regulations and to identify risks to safety and health of employees
Ensuring preventive measures are taken to safeguard the safety and health of employees and any other person not in the employment of the employer
Advising the employer in writing on practicable measures and appropriate techniques to be implemented to minimize risks in all processes
Designing and implementing appropriate training programs to meet the requirements of the Act and keeping proper records thereof
Reviewing any measure, method, procedure, or technique adopted to ensure occupational safety and health at intervals of not more than 2 years and keeping proper records; recommending in writing appropriate occupational safety and health programs
Inspecting all places of work under responsibility at least once every month and recording findings in the register provided by the employer
Exercising adequate supervision to ensure the effective implementation of arrangements made and preventive measures taken by the employer; enquiring into all complaints made by an employee
Assessing the need for preventive measures to safeguard the safety and health of employees and any other person not in the employment of the employer
Developing effective communication systems on occupational safety and health between the employer and any employee
Investigating occupational accidents and dangerous occurrences at any place of work, making a report thereon, and recommending in writing any safety and health measures to be implemented by the employer
Monitoring OHS compliance and providing technical advice in accordance with local laws and regulations
