  • Minimum 3 to 8 years’ experience in UBD
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Comprehensive knowledge of well control best practices and procedures
  • Understanding of Coiled Tubing and underbalanced Drilling System

Responsibilities

  • Review current Drilling Program prior to commencement of operation and ensure all clarifications, errors and corrections have been addressed
  • Have good working knowledge of all SOP’s both operating and contingency; supervise execution of all SOP’s in a safe and efficient manner
  • Promote safe work practice by leading TBT, safety leadership, safety coaching and JSA’s
  • Recommend updates to all SOP’s relative to learnings using the MOC system
  • Review BHA sheets prior to assembly and monitor assembly of same
  • Ensure drill fluid, kill fluid, Hi-Vis products and friction reducer are prepared correctly and properties maintained as per Aramco Foreman and WSTL
  • Monitor on site fresh water and kill fluid volumes are maintained as per program
  • During N2 operations, closely monitor N2 pump rates to ensure it is pumped in a safe manner, rates are maintained as per program and onsite inventory is reported to the Aramco Foreman and WSTL
  • Maintain UB condition by adjusting liquid pump rate, N2 rate (if in use) and/or choke settings as per Aramco Foreman, WSTL and DD
  • Stay in close communication with the BH office Technical Advisor
  • Use WellFlo multi-phase flow software to calculate and ensure liquid velocities, gas velocities and mix liquid/gas velocities are sufficient for hole cleaning; advise any questionable values to Aramco Foreman, WSTL, DD, UB Supervisor and Driller
  • Use WellFlo to calculate lag times for changes in depth, circulating rates and production rates; report changes in lag times to the Aramco Foreman, WSTL, UB Supervisor, Choke Operator and Driller
  • Ensure Geological samples are captured as per procedure and frequency as per standing Aramco Foreman’s instructions and/or as per Bio-steering and Geologist requirements
  • Ensure regular compositional analysis of fluid returns is conducted using centrifuge grind outs and results are documented accordingly
  • On H2S wells above 100 ppm, monitor fluid returns to the ground pit for dissolved sulphides, treat out dissolved sulphides with caustic soda and liquid H2S scavenger as per Mud-man, Aramco Foreman and WSTL
  • Ensure Vis pill sweep frequency and wiper trip length/sequence/schedule is adjusted as per hole conditions in conjunction with instructions of the Aramco Foreman and WSTL and/or under advice of DD and Driller
  • Ensure flared gas is minimized and export gas is maximized
