Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations
Ability to ensure completion and certification of safety-specific training for distribution center positions
Capability to train new hires on company policies, procedures, safety, and preferred methods using specified best one-way training methods
Skills in providing safety support and validating compliance to maintain, promote, and exceed safety standards
Experience in keeping leadership informed on training and re-certification progress for compliance trainings
Ability to maintain in-house training equipment, materials, and facilities to up-to-date standards
Competence in implementing programs to drive a culture of safety
Ability to facilitate and support safety KPIs for the distribution center scorecard
Partnership skills with Facility Maintenance for PSM/RMP compliance where applicable
Responsibilities
Foster/develop a culture where safety is ingrained as a core value, zero incidents are achievable, employees are engaged in safe work practices, and interact to prevent at-risk behaviors
Actively address unsafe behaviors and engage with operations management to enforce safety disciplines across all shifts
Promote a culture of prevention by identifying potential unsafe conditions and behaviors and leading efforts to address them
Develop and implement programs, processes, and procedures (SOPs) to ensure site compliance with company and regulatory policies, including record keeping, documentation, and daily execution
Conduct safety audits, complete audit reports with recommendations for corrective action, verify compliance, review findings with management, secure resources, and follow up on resolutions
Participate in thorough investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to implement permanent mitigations and resolutions
Communicate incidents, preventions, and associates' roles in maintaining a safe workplace; provide required documentation and involvement with internal safety leadership or government agencies
Prepare and submit required information to agencies, including risk management plans, environmental reports, OSHA recordkeeping, and other reports
Evaluate safety communication and visual guides (signage, mirrors, banners, etc.) and work with maintenance to ensure effective use; provide daily safety messages and tips to operations management
