Requirements

Active ISA Arborist certification required
Educational background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, biology, environmental studies, conservation, or related disciplines preferred
Reside within 50 miles of Grass Valley, CA
Proficient in electronic devices and documentation
Ability to work outdoors in a safety-sensitive role

Responsibilities

Perform circuit patrols in accordance with the annual VM plan, VM patrol standards, and processes
Identify required tree work along existing PG&E rights-of-way, prescribe tree work, and document inspections
Notify property owners/agencies when tree work will occur and obtain necessary authorizations
Act as VM contact for new business and re-construction work requested by the energy delivery organization
Perform work verification inspections to verify inspection and tree work completion and quality
Investigate and document tree-related outages and attend outage meetings as requested
Handle a variety of VM tags, including tracking, field checking, prescribing work, notifying customers, and assisting in close-out of cases from Electric Corrective, Gas OCW, Customer Care & Billing, or as assigned
Support emergency response, such as dispatching tree crews, field checking sites, and first responder agreements
Independently complete tasks assigned by the supervisor
Support oversight of vegetation projects, including tree assessment, trimming, and other field operations
Participate in contractor safety and tailboard meetings
Act as a customer relations representative on behalf of PG&E
Provide support and coordination between contractors, communities, agencies, first responders, and PG&E workgroups/stakeholders
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including permits (annual, encroachment, traffic control, railroad, Caltrans) and environmental protection measures
Patrol distribution or transmission circuits and prescribe work to be performed by PG&E’s tree contractors
Patrol for hazard trees, perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines
Assist in submitting inspection results to clients with recommendations
Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of assigned tree clearance crews
Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
Serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers
