Requirements

  • Relevant research experience within an agile team
  • SaaS, finance, or healthcare experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively respond to both clear and ambiguous research requests
  • Strong understanding of how to adapt processes and approach based on project constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver actionable recommendations and next steps through clear and concise research reports
  • Strong organizational skills, taking initiative to manage and prioritize workload, and independently drive projects forward
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Experience with research planning, coordination, and execution
  • Familiarity with research methodologies (e.g. user interviews, surveys, usability testing)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex research findings to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation
  • Familiarity with research tools and software (e.g. NVivo, Atlas.ti, Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Experience with NYT Pips game (or willingness to learn)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities

Responsibilities

  • Conduct generative and evaluative research to uncover user needs, behaviors, and motivations
  • Be the voice of the user in cross-functional team discussions, advocating for user needs while balancing business objectives and constraints
  • Help foster a user-centric culture by refining unclear questions into clear research opportunities
  • Share insights across teams and ensure those insights help shape product decisions from discovery through launch
  • Create research plans, coordinate recruitment, and conduct research with stakeholders
  • Analyze and interpret research data, identifying trends and insights
  • Develop and maintain research reports, including recommendations and next steps
  • Actively contribute to the growth and development of the research function
  • Provide research advice and guidance to stakeholders and team members
  • Participate in problem discovery activities with design and product manager peers
  • Refine ambiguous questions into clearer goals
  • Review findings and recommendations with design partners
  • Guide research teams through the decision-making process
  • Participate in team meetings and discussions to share research findings and insights
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in research methodology and tools
  • Collaborate with senior researchers to maintain research repository and ensure data accuracy
  • Actively seek feedback and guidance from senior team members
  • Demonstrate initiative in end-to-end ownership of research studies
