Requirements
- Ability to read and translate prescription information into system codes
- Knowledge of pharmacy software for entering prescription data and managing patient records
- Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid policies, rules, and regulations
- Understanding of local, state, and federal laws, and corporate policies for pharmacy operations
- Ability to work under pharmacist supervision in a Home Delivery/Specialty pharmacy setting
- Skills in troubleshooting pharmacy systems, pill cell performance, and IT issues
- Capability to interpret third-party insurance claims, reject codes, and resolve rejections
- Willingness to obtain national certifications and shadow certified Pharmacy Technicians
- Compliance with company policies, procedures, ethics, and integrity standards
Responsibilities
- Maintain quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory (pharmaceuticals and supplies) through adherence to control procedures, auditing, testing pill cell performance, managing databases, troubleshooting issues, handling hazardous waste, and processing recalls/expired stock
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software, including translating prescriptions, transcribing details (drug name, strength, directions, prescriber info), and creating/modifying patient records
- Assist in prescription fulfillment by identifying/selecting products, verifying size/strength/quantity, counting/measuring/weighing medications, mixing/reconstituting as needed, entering expiration/lot numbers, labeling, packaging, and distributing under pharmacist supervision
- Comply with Medicare/Medicaid policies by implementing regulations, staying updated, researching for accurate processing, and documenting audits
- Maintain pharmacy's professional reputation by assisting in fulfillment, stocking/rotating merchandise, handling claims/returns, completing/securing paperwork, working toward certifications, shadowing technicians, and keeping a safe/clean environment
- Monitor and resolve prescription fulfillment problems, including root cause analysis, coordinating with insurance/IT, reprocessing claims, alerting patients, and escalating to pharmacists
- Complete work assignments using policies/data/resources, collaborate with teams, identify priorities, communicate progress, recommend improvements, and adapt to change/feedback
