Requirements

  • Experience in power market analysis, trading, renewables development, or consulting
  • Deep expertise in U.S. wholesale power markets, including capacity markets, RECs, and RPS policies
  • Proven experience leading market intelligence within an energy company, utility, or consultancy
  • Strong background in long-term forecasting, production cost modeling, and scenario planning
  • Ability to translate complex analytics into clear, actionable insights for executives and cross-functional partners
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including team development and cross-functional influence

Responsibilities

  • Lead the market intelligence function supporting Walmart’s offsite energy strategy, with a focus on TRE procurement and offsite renewables
  • Oversee the development of long-term load and price forecasts, and production cost models
  • Provide strategic insights into wholesale price formation, capacity markets, renewable growth, storage, and transmission dynamics
  • Guide the integration of market outlooks into TRE hedging strategies, vPPA origination, and tax-oriented investments
  • Build market entry frameworks for assessing new geographic or market opportunities for TRE and vPPAs (e.g., PJM capacity markets, ERCOT ancillary services, CAISO storage growth)
  • Develop portfolio stress tests to evaluate resilience of Walmart’s energy portfolio under different economic, commodity, and policy regimes
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level insights for leadership meetings
  • Partner with Origination, Trading, Finance, and Analytics to align forecasts with Walmart’s portfolio strategy and investment decisions
