Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must possess a valid California BSIS Guard Card
- Must have a valid Powers to Arrest (PTOA) certificate
- Must pass a background check
- Must have reliable transportation
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong verbal communication and observation skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Prior experience in retail security, loss prevention, or similar roles preferred
Responsibilities
- Serve as a visible deterrent, dressed professionally in uniform
- Maintain an engaged and professional personality, liking working with people/customers
- Provide terrific customer service
- Stay professionally dressed, maintain good hygiene, and be groomed
- Be active and visible in stores, spending most time at front end (entrances/exits)
- Show up on time and check in with management, ready to work
- Greet all customers (e.g., "Welcome to/Thank you for Shopping at ...")
- Be alert, observe, and report suspicious activity; be engaged and offer assistance
- Communicate clearly
- Walk employees out to their car if requested
- Abide by all policies (e.g., receipts/breaks, cell phone use, shoplift policy, no weapons)
- De-escalate situations and treat everyone with courtesy, dignity, and respect
