Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in manufacturing or production setting (asset)
  • Demonstrated safety mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated quality work
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, noise)
  • Ability to safely perform manual labour for extended periods
  • Basic knowledge of welding, grinding, or machine operator experience (asset)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, if required

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties in a safe manner and ensures housekeeping is maintained (e.g., handling flammable liquids and gases)
  • Operates equipment in the rework area such as cutting torches, grinders, overhead cranes, conveyors and scales to support the efficient operation of the finishing line
  • Measures and weighs pipe sections and ensures accurate capture by the computer system
  • Stencils or writes appropriate information at the pipe ends, as required
  • Operates remote controlled overhead crane to reposition sections in the line, remove scrap pipe sections, empty scrap buckets and assist in changeovers
  • Assists in the performance of required maintenance and repairs of all associated finishing line equipment
  • Operates variable controls to control movement of machines or passages of material through equipment
  • Performs auxiliary or service operations closely associated with production units or processes
