Candidates must have 2+ years of experience in the wood frame construction industry and demonstrated knowledge of lumber and engineered wood products. A strong understanding of all aspects of new construction, the ability to read and understand plans, specifications, and construction documents, and proficiency in computer use are essential. Candidates must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of commitment and individual responsibility, and the ability to manage multiple projects. Within 60 days of hire, a valid driver's license, forklift operator's license, and medical first-aid and CPR certificates are required. The role demands physical stamina, including walking, climbing, lifting, and working in various environmental conditions and shifts, with the ability to pass a drug test and be mobile in the work environment.
The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for the overall management and coordination of field operations, ensuring projects meet cost, profit, quality, safety, and customer service objectives. This includes coordinating and monitoring subcontractor performance, ensuring fulfillment of contract obligations and code compliance, and processing required paperwork daily. The Superintendent will conduct safety and cleanup audits, maintain an organized and clean job site, and attend preconstruction meetings to provide input. They will serve as the primary UFP representative on-site, coordinating communications between customers, UFP, and subcontractors, and keeping management informed of progress and issues. Responsibilities also include developing framing schedules, monitoring progress, ensuring timely project completion, and interacting with various departments to deliver quality projects. The Superintendent must establish and manage quality standards, ensure compliance with all laws and regulations, and prepare reports as required. This role involves 100% travel Monday-Friday within specified regions.
