Requirements

Candidates must be located in greater Evansville, Indianapolis, or Ft. Wayne, Indiana; a high school diploma or equivalent is required, with an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in energy, construction, environmental science, or a related field being preferred. A minimum of 2 years of experience in field services, quality control, or quality assurance roles, or consulting, energy efficiency, or utility experience is desired, and BPI Building Analyst, RESNET HERS Rater, or equivalent certification is required, or the ability to acquire within the first 60 days of employment. Knowledge of building science, construction, and technical expertise is essential, and US citizenship is required. Experience with SnuggPro is preferred.

Responsibilities

The Residential Energy Auditor will perform on-site residential energy audits, including HVAC systems, insulation, windows, lighting, appliances, and building envelope, utilizing diagnostic tools such as blower doors, combustion analyzers, and infrared cameras. They will collect and analyze utility data, homeowner usage patterns, and building specifications, inputting this data into provided software tools and prioritizing recommendations for energy-saving improvements. The Auditor will educate homeowners and residents about energy-saving opportunities, rebates, and best practices, and perform post-installation inspections to verify completion and effectiveness of energy upgrades. They will ensure compliance with applicable standards and program requirements, collaborate with contractors, utility representatives, and program managers, and maintain accurate records while submitting documentation in a timely manner. Additionally, the Auditor will travel approximately 25% to 75% of the time and assist with other duties as assigned.
