Position Overview

The Traveling Foreman is primarily responsible for assisting Traveling Superintendents and the internal project team with daily tasks on remote jobsites. This includes coordinating subcontractors, reviewing material deliveries and quality of installations, and managing documentation requirements. Depending on experience and preference, this position may also be responsible for running their own project.

This role requires frequent travel to various project locations as assigned, often for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Assist job site supervisors with daily jobsite needs, tracking progress, and managing tasks.
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications, analyzing construction methods and scheduling for details and sequences of work.
  • Promote a culture of jobsite safety, ensuring safe work practices from all personnel on site.
  • Rectify jobsite hazards immediately and ensure adherence to all safety procedures by employees, subcontractors, visitors, and designated safety personnel.
  • Manage all new contract documents, ensuring all file locations and paper copies are updated with the newest documents onsite (electronically or on paper).
  • Check shop drawings and submittals from subcontractors, performing field measurements to confirm design requirements are met before material fabrication.
  • Purchase miscellaneous jobsite materials, rough hardware, and supplies as authorized by the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Assist site supervisors with vendor activities, ensuring adherence to delivery dates and completion of field activities. Take appropriate action and document issues if schedules are not met.
  • Review material deliveries from subcontractors, verifying them against approved submittals and contract documents, and tracking the delivery log.
  • Communicate internally and externally as requested by the project team.
  • Prepare notes and photos for subcontractors to confirm phone conversations, request information, document issues, verify delivery dates, etc.
  • Provide routine photographic documentation of onsite progress and file accordingly.
  • Follow QC labeling requirements.
  • Supervise workmanship onsite to ensure installed work complies with drawings, specifications, and Warfel standards.
  • Perform inspections of installed materials or assist the site supervisor with reviews and completion of QA/QC reports.
  • Complete lists and punch list documentation for site close-out activities as reviewed with the superintendent and project team.
  • May be required to work with tools to help install work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Travel Logistics

  • Willing to travel frequently and be stationed at project sites as required.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, inspectors, and utility providers as needed.
  • Adapt to different regional regulations and work environments.
  • Ability to work with Traveling Superintendents and remote Project Management Teams, adhering to company standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • No formal education required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated aptitude at managing others.
  • Ability to understand prints, sketches, blueprints, and building plans with minimal instruction.
  • Proficiency in using required technology to update project status, submit requested reports, and complete timecards.

Physical Requirements

  • Position spends 100% of the time on an active construction site.
  • Must be able to move frequently throughout a construction jobsite with uneven terrain and in inclement weather.
