Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET (or acceptable alternative: Bachelor's in engineering (non-ABET) plus Master's or PhD in engineering from a university with ABET-accredited Bachelor's program)
For Grade 5 (Engineer Assoc): Entry level for new graduates; passing Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam encouraged and preferred
For Grade 6 (Engineer): Typically 2+ years related engineering experience; Professional Engineer (PE) registration in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico encouraged and preferred
For Grade 7 (Engineer): Typically 4+ years related engineering experience
Responsibilities
Accurately model transmission system topology including impedance and facility ratings for lines, generators, and transformers for Medium, High, and Extra High Voltages using AEP-internal modeling database, PSS/E, and/or ASPEN One-liner
Fulfill various system modeling related requests from Engineering and Operations personnel submitted via ServiceNow ticketing system
Collaborate with internal/external team members to model planned projects, build power flow, and short circuit model cases representing the future transmission system, as needed
Participate in the planning and organization of project work activities
Perform electrical transmission system analysis and protection system studies, as requested
Perform activities related to NERC Compliance standards
Apply problem solving skills to resolve technical problems and initiate solution techniques
