Requirements

  • Proficient at reading and interpreting civil grading drawings, grounding and foundation drawings, conduit/cable schedule and wiring diagrams, electrical assembly drawings, One-Lines, Switching diagrams, bus wiring diagrams, steel drawings, PNP drawings, Manufacturer’s drawings, SWPPP, etc
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State & Local Regulations, OSHA compliance requirements, AEP’s safety compliance oversight program, AEP’s Environmental policies and procedures, SWPPP, and environmental permits
  • Expertise in transmission station and line construction to provide construction site management, quality assurance/control, and oversight for compliance, safety, environmental, and permitting requirements
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple teams including project team, environmental teams, contractors, Right-of-Way and Siting teams, Engineering, Procurement, Outage Planning, and Supply Chain
  • Capability to perform site safety observations, conduct safety meetings, provide progress updates, review project documents/drawings, submit Field Mark Prints, and participate in project closeout meetings

Responsibilities

  • Provide construction site management for all aspects and activities of transmission station and line construction to facilitate project completion within budget, schedule, and scope
  • Provide oversight for transmission station and line construction projects to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State & Local Regulations
  • Provide project quality assurance and quality control oversight to ensure adherence to Engineering specifications and standards
  • Provide progress updates on construction activities and milestones to the project team
  • Provide oversight for OSHA compliance requirements in accordance with AEP’s safety compliance oversight program; perform site safety observations and complete documentation; conduct meetings to set AEP’s Safety and Environmental expectations for crews
  • Coordinate work activities with AEP environmental teams and contractors to ensure compliance with AEP’s Environmental policies and procedures as well as all Federal, State and Local regulations; provide oversight for SWPPP and environmental permits; work with Project Team to close/terminate permits
  • Coordinate with Right-of-Way and Siting teams to ensure landowner and governmental agreements are carried out; ensure all required permits for crossings, ROW clearing, access roads, etc., are obtained and properly closed/terminated
  • Provide construction expertise to facilitate optimal engineered design; review project documents and drawings prior to final issuance and provide feedback; work with project teams to resolve construction, material, or engineered issues; provide Field Mark Prints; attend project closeout meetings for lessons learned, issues, and best practices
  • Provide oversight to verify project material and equipment is ordered, scheduled, receipted, identified, inventoried, stored, handled, and installed per specifications; collaborate with Engineering and Procurement on shortages/deficiencies; coordinate material deliveries with contractors and Supply Chain
  • Collaborate with Outage Planning team on project outage schedule
