Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business or related field; or Associate's degree in computer science or related field with 2 years relevant work experience; or High school diploma/GED with 4 years relevant work experience
  • For Senior: 5 years relevant work experience (in addition to education requirements)
  • For Principal: 7 years relevant work experience (in addition to education requirements)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to effectively translate functional business requirements (user stories) and non-functional requirements to technology teams
  • Data exploration and analysis skills (e.g., SQL)
  • Experience working on a scrum team in an agile environment
  • Strong experience in facilitating mapping sessions to analyze current state, gather requirements for future state, and gap analysis
  • Experience facilitating and driving technical and non-technical initiatives with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience in Maximo (work and asset management) or regulated utility industry (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Jira, ServiceNow (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Use business analysis techniques and tools for use case modeling, data modeling, process mapping, and testing
  • Learn new domains by collaborating with business and technical teams
  • Understand and apply technology solutions by translating business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models, and basic system configuration
  • Manage business unit relationships and oversee the entire life cycle of information technology investments in systems for a department
  • Use multiple techniques for requirements elicitation and document creation, establish business capabilities, and ensure asset organization and refinement
  • Lead or participate in process redesign and support activities, including using tools, responding to user questions, problem diagnosis, recognition and solutions for process improvements, research, troubleshooting, tracking, and resolution
  • Research best practices to develop innovative solutions for complex process improvement efforts or business needs
  • Develop and implement business analysis standards and ensure compliance with standards
  • Create and communicate capabilities and scope plans to all levels of business and technical staff
  • Provide training, mentoring, and work direction to others on the team
  • Work within Waterfall or Agile frameworks, collaborating with technology and business partners to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions leveraging AEP's standards, architectures, and best practices
  • Independently perform intermediate to advanced business and project analysis for medium to large projects
