Requirements
- Completion of a certificate or diploma program in CNC programming, machining, or a related field is preferred; or at least three (3) years of direct CNC programming experience using Mastercam or similar software
- 2+ years of hands-on CNC programming and operation experience, ideally with prototypes or low volume production
- Proficient in Mastercam and skilled in using CAD/CAM applications for CNC programming
- Confident in reading and interpreting CAD models, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Oscilloscope knowledge, preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of workplace safety practices and basic machine maintenance procedures
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies, such as lean manufacturing or Six Sigma
- Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time
Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (including 4 & 5 axis mills, lathes, and multi-axis) to fabricate metal parts to precise specifications for prototypes and small production runs
- Receive and review CAD files and technical drawings from the engineering group for prototype and production projects
- Read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and part specifications to determine required dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations
- Program CNC machines using Mastercam software to create accurate, high-quality parts
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job based on engineering requirements
- Inspect finished parts and prototypes for accuracy and quality using precision measuring tools and instruments
- Collaborate and communicate with engineers and designers to optimize manufacturability and resolve design or production challenges
- Maintain detailed documentation of CNC programming, machine setups, material usage, and process improvements
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with CNC machines, tooling, or production processes as they arise
- Ensure a safe, organized, and efficient work environment by adhering to all company safety protocols and supporting general shop operations
