Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Technical degree and three years or more of related experience and/or training in a production/manufacturing environment preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and present general business items to groups of coworkers, managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and rotating/varying shifts, and be available for emergency call-out as needed
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 12-hour shift
  • Ability to drive vehicles
  • Ability to climb on a ladder or scaffolding to heights in excess of 10’, balance, and work above the shoulders frequently
  • Ability to bend/stoop, kneel, crouch, and squat frequently for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use both hands for frequent grasping and occasional fine manipulation and fingering
  • Ability to occasionally carry and lift up to 50 pounds above the shoulders
  • Ability to occasionally push or pull various items, such as equipment, filters, motors, tools, and compressors pumps up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Ability to tolerate required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on packaging equipment (Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers, and Box Formers)
  • Know the operation of packaging equipment and assist in setup and minor mechanical repairs
  • Ensure self and coworkers are compliant with all safety rules and regulations (LOTO, fall protection, hot work, etc.)
  • Provide and assist in the operation of Baggers, Printers, CSMAs, Weighers, and Box Formers
  • Perform uptime and downtime inspections, lubrications, predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on a regular basis
  • Learn to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on packaging equipment
  • Collaborate with Operators to ensure equipment runs at highest efficiencies
  • Assist in training and development of operators and other team members
  • Research system and component specifications using equipment manuals, schematics, parts breakdowns, online information, and vendor communication
  • Dismantle and reassemble complex pieces of machinery efficiently, precisely, and reliably
  • Create work requests, work orders, and request parts in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and document details of work performed
  • Escalate technical, procedural, and personnel related issues to direct lead or supervisor as necessary
  • Perform other assigned duties and projects
  • Assist Packaging Specialist on repairs and improvements to equipment
  • Respond to and clear Bin Jams in area of responsibility
  • Perform minor rebuild and preparation of rollers (e.g., replacement of bearings, shafts, and sprockets)
  • Assist all team members on the Maintenance Mechanic Team for support and personal development
