Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related utility industry work experience
Or an associate’s degree in electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields (associate's degree preferred)
Valid Driver’s License
Technical knowledge acquired from an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology
Basic computer literacy, knowledge, and skills
Knowledge of standards, codes, and regulations relevant to area of assignment
Knowledge of pertinent equipment, material, systems, and business processes
Physical demands (as specified in full job description)
Responsibilities
Perform entry-level to advanced technical work and related activities associated with planning, engineering, design, analysis, development, testing, construction, maintenance, and operation of Company equipment and facilities (level-dependent: entry for Associate SG 04, intermediate for Technician SG 05, complex for SR SG 06, advanced for Principal SG 07)
Assist employees in handling defined portions of routine problems when beneficial to AEP
Perform work activities as assigned and coached by higher level employees
Demonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary
Plan work in accordance with AEP standard planning practices
Prioritize routine work to meet the demands of the company
Maintain accurate records
Apply technical knowledge and experience in resolving problems encountered in assigned work
Use initiative in looking for opportunities to improve the process and increase job knowledge/technical skills
Seek out, compile, analyze, and interpret information necessary to perform work activities and solve problems
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with internal and external customers
Assist in the preparation of technical reports and papers
Demonstrate the ability to be a team player and relate to people in an open, friendly, and sincere manner
Develop decision-making skills based on sound judgment and job knowledge
Develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the local organizational unit
