High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related utility industry work experience; or an Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields
Valid Driver's License
Live or willing to relocate to within 45 minutes reporting time of the North Charleston Service Center
Physical ability to walk rights-of-way of various terrain in adverse conditions to patrol distribution power lines, carry/handle telescopic measuring sticks and switching sticks (11 pounds), use brush axe (6 pounds) or machete (2 pounds) to clear brush, and exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (Light Work)
Technical knowledge acquired from an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology (preferred)
Basic computer literacy, knowledge, and skills
Responsibilities
Perform entry-level technical work and related activities associated with the planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance, and operation of Company equipment and facilities
Possess and gain technical knowledge of standards, codes, regulations, equipment, materials, systems, and business processes relevant to the area of assignment
Assist employees in handling defined portions of routine problems
Perform work activities as assigned and coached by higher-level employees
Demonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance
Plan work in accordance with AEP standard planning practices, prioritize routine work, and maintain accurate records
Apply technical knowledge and experience in resolving problems encountered in assigned work
Use initiative to improve processes and increase job knowledge/technical skills, and compile, analyze, and interpret information to perform work activities and solve problems
Communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers, assist in preparing technical reports and papers, and demonstrate team player abilities
