Requirements

  • Completed education as a Technical Writer, or alternatively a bachelor's degree in natural science (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Linguistics); master's degree is an advantage
  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a Technical Writer
  • Knowledge of creating texts in Technical English
  • Experience in FrameMaker, preferably also in a Content Management System (e.g., Schema ST4, SDL Tridion Docs)
  • Knowledge of common standards and guidelines for the creation of technical documentation
  • Knowledge of common MS Office products (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with image editing programs (Corel PaintShop Pro, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, SnagIt) and/or video creation programs
  • High linguistic and interpersonal skills (English and, if possible, German)
  • Persistence, resilience, and flexibility
  • Willingness to learn changing working methods as use of AI tools

Responsibilities

  • Developing user manuals, online help, and service documentation for instruments and their software in Technical English, using FrameMaker and/or a system for managing content (e.g., Schema ST4, SDL Tridion Docs)
  • Acquisition, evaluation, and incorporation of information from experts
  • Putting legal requirements into effect in accordance with prevailing standards and norms
  • Implementation of internal corporate design guidelines
  • Creation and editing of graphics, photos, and videos
  • Independent collaboration on multiple projects
  • Pre- and post-processing of translations of manuals
