Position Overview

Confluent is revolutionizing data movement, enabling companies to react faster, build smarter, and deliver dynamic experiences. We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our team. This role is crucial for customer success, bridging the gap between our client services and engineering teams. You will leverage your expertise in Apache Kafka and the Confluent Platform to help customers identify and resolve critical business issues.

About the Role

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will:

• Interact directly with customers, providing software development and operations expertise.
• Utilize deep knowledge of best practices for Apache Kafka and the Confluent Platform.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in customer deployments.
• Contribute fixes back to the open-source community.
• Build strong relationships with customers, ensuring exemplary support and timely resolutions.
• Contribute to process development, helping to build a foundation for efficient growth and a best-in-class culture.
• Communicate with the core engineering team to provide real-time product feedback.
• Improve product documentation and author knowledge base articles.
• Create and review product demos and internal tooling.
• Work closely with the team behind Apache Kafka.

Requirements

• 2-3+ years of related experience.
• Excitement for learning about streaming data and becoming a domain expert in Apache Kafka.
• Experience in diagnosing, reproducing, and resolving customer issues.
• A desire to make customers successful through direct interaction.
• At least one of the following:
  • Experience troubleshooting applications running on Linux (e.g., resource contention, network bottlenecks).
  • Operational knowledge of Java applications (e.g., jstack, jmap).
  • Experience with at least one mainstream distributed system (e.g., Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra).
