Position Overview

The Technical Product Owner 2 (TPO2) has oversight of project execution across one or more teams driving cloud team roadmap realization. This role will collaborate with other teams to ensure all projects adhere to infrastructure and security best practices. We have a large distributed global engineering organization that leverages a broad spectrum of technologies. Our engineering success depends on the entire team across the globe being aligned on standards which the TPO2 will continually reinforce and iteratively improve. The TPO2 collects key performance indicators of global agile teams and will present these to senior leadership and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Servant Leadership: Act as a servant leader and a beacon for agile best practices.
  • Defining the Vision:
    • Primary owner of the product backlog for 1-2 teams.
    • Primary contributor in the creation of the enterprise roadmap in collaboration with other product owners and development/engineering teams.
    • Ownership in refinement of stories and acceptance criteria for 1-2 teams.
  • Define Iteration: Prioritize backlog needs (balancing scope, budget, and time) at the enterprise level monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
  • Drives Iteration: Effectively create a product/project and guide it from discovery phase to release. Accurately assess product opportunities and risks. Influence decisions on whether to continue or change the existing product development path in case of an unfavorable trajectory.
  • Communication:
    • Obtain primary buy-in from stakeholders on all major decisions and strategy.
    • Provide clear instructions and deliverables for engineers.
    • Define, refine, and report key performance indicators for software teams to provide clarity on productivity, technical health, and factors that may be impeding progress.
  • Team Ownership: Serve as the lead product owner for 1+ team.
  • Agile Practices:
    • Primary PO role in all agile ceremonies.
    • Organize workshops with the Product’s users and Agile teams.
  • Toolkit: Introduce new and useful tools and practices. Proficient in Jira.

Skills & Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience leading platform engineers through successful product deliveries in an Agile environment.
    • Experience with global engineering teams, particularly with teams co-located in India and North America and/or Europe.
  • Skills:
    • Proven skills in measuring software engineering key performance indicators.
    • Excellent communication skills.
  • Certifications (Nice to Have):
    • Certified Scrum Professional - Product Owner
    • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
