Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge regarding the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of applicable Field Communications equipment
  • Ability to repair, adjust, test, and operate equipment
  • Thorough understanding of safety methods, practices, procedures, and policies
  • Ability to combine theory with practical experience, determine facts, analyze information, make decisions, and resolve problems
  • Ability to handle technical investigations regarding equipment mis-operations
  • Strong computer skills and ability to operate software programs relating to databases, test equipment, and hardware configuration
  • Working knowledge of switching and tagging procedures

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead or have overall responsibility for the installation, maintenance, and repair of communication and/or automation systems
  • Coordinate, schedule, and provide work direction to engineers, test specialists, test technicians, and external personnel
  • Oversee safety of assigned personnel
  • Define scope of major projects and consult with contractors and/or vendors; coordinate and oversee their work
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Eversource personnel in other departments
  • Approve test results of engineers, test specialists, test technicians, and vendors
  • Develop lists of spare and replacement parts, make specifications, and coordinate usage of spare parts inventories
  • Interface with internal and external Engineering and Design groups to provide field support for project completion
  • Analyze and interpret maintenance data; verify and contribute to completeness and accuracy of maintenance records
  • Identify common or generic equipment problems and institute or recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure effective and efficient use of assigned personnel, equipment, and material resources
  • Review and evaluate need for tools, parts, and materials for maintenance work
  • Direct and demonstrate efforts to achieve safe work practices, error-free performance, and compliance with Eversource safety manual and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and operational entities, operating instructions, and minimum requirements
  • Provide timely and accurate oral and written updates; keep supervision informed of ongoing activities
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical support to engineers, test specialists, and test technicians
  • Promote teamwork within Field Communications and with other Eversource groups
  • Respond to emergencies and support requests outside normal work hours
  • Assume duties of the Supervisor during their absence
  • Establish schedules for self and others; direct and coordinate assigned staff, maintenance crews, and contractors
