Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or related area
  • Minimum 2 years of Sales Tax experience with a public accounting firm or equivalent experience in a large corporation
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles; CPA is preferred
  • Experience in using data and analytical tools including Excel, Alteryx, GenAI and data visualization tools is preferred
  • Experience with Vertex and SAP, or similar tax software and general ledger system, is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assisting on various aspects of the sales and use tax function, primarily supporting sales and use tax compliance accounting, and audit processes
  • Preparation and review of sales and use tax returns
  • Researching and updating item taxability decisions in tax systems
  • Leading the response to sales and use tax audits
  • Working closely with Target business partners to collect and analyze data
  • Assisting with the preparation, documentation and review of tax workpapers and filings
  • Supporting tax accounting and forecasting processes
  • Engaging with governmental agents, external advisors, and financial statement auditors
  • Researching and analyzing technical tax issues
  • Supporting the team with tax audit matters
  • Evaluating the tax implications of Target’s business operations
  • Leveraging tax expertise, critical thinking, problem solving, and business operational knowledge on strategic priorities
  • Remaining current with tax and industry trends and emerging risks
