Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting or Finance
  • Zero to two years’ experience in tax and/or accounting related fields preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Excel Skills)
  • Research software (RIA, CCH) preferred
  • Tax preparation software (Sales, PPTX, Income tax) preferred
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)

Responsibilities

  • Gather, compile, and analyze information to support accurate tax reporting
  • Create documentation including reconciliations for indirect and direct tax compliance, advisory projects, and audits by federal, state, provincial, and local taxing authorities
  • Understand the use of appropriate general ledger tax accounts and reconcile assigned tax related accounts
  • Research tax laws to ensure compliance in all areas of tax
  • Respond to internal and external customer requests related to tax questions and interpretations effectively and timely
  • Resolve straightforward technical tax issues without assistance
  • Communicate directly and professionally with taxing jurisdictions and customers regarding basic and complex tax matters
  • Complete various sales and/or property tax tasks with assistance related to onboarding and administration of third-party portfolio servicing clients
  • Assist with analysis, quantification, and documentation of tax positions
  • Compile and reconcile billing information related to taxes paid and services performed for identified lessors
  • Assist with preparation of accurate and timely tax returns including sales/use, property, income/franchise taxes, and their equivalents
  • Proactively participate in strategic projects as assigned
  • Provide outstanding GreatAmerica Experience for external as well as internal customers
  • Ensure GreatAmerica is compliant with federal, state, and local laws pertaining to sales/use, property, and/or income/franchise taxes, and their equivalents
  • Proactively look for areas where taxes can and do impact the core business processes of GreatAmerica and look for opportunities to improve processes in those areas
