Requirements

3+ years of tax preparation experience with individuals, partnerships, and S Corporations
Strong understanding of tax law and accounting principles related to small businesses and individuals
Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax, Drake, or similar)
Experience with QuickBooks or similar bookkeeping software is a plus
Ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of tax returns with attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
CPA or EA preferred, but not required
Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
Enjoys the technical, detail-oriented side of tax return preparation
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Willingness to roll up sleeves and "own" the preparation process from start to finish

Responsibilities

Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and S Corporations
Input client financial data and perform necessary bookkeeping entries to generate accurate trial balances and financials for tax purposes
Analyze client-provided documents (bank statements, income/expense summaries, etc.) and determine appropriate tax treatment
Reconcile financial records and ensure accuracy before tax preparation
Ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations
Work with team members and clients to resolve outstanding questions or missing information
Maintain detailed workpapers and documentation for all returns prepared
Manage workload efficiently to meet internal deadlines during peak tax seasons
