Requirements

Candidates should possess an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on system administration experience, preferably in a DoD or highly-regulated IT environment, is required. A DoD Manual 8140.03 or DoD Directive 8570.01 Information Assurance Technical II certification is necessary, with the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire; higher or additional certifications are a plus. Proficiency in Windows and Linux administration, networking fundamentals, and troubleshooting complex IT issues is essential. Experience with account management, permissions, patching, imaging, and system hardening is required. Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud platforms is preferred. U.S. citizenship and a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Secret Compartmented Information (SCI) are mandatory.

Responsibilities

The Systems Administrator will manage and maintain the site's IT systems and infrastructure, providing Tier II/III escalation support for complex technical issues. Responsibilities include implementing and monitoring system backups, patching, updates, and configuration changes. The role involves partnering with cybersecurity staff to apply security controls, assist with vulnerability remediation, and support audit readiness. Maintaining accurate system documentation, supporting IT infrastructure projects, and ensuring compliance with organizational cybersecurity policies and DoD requirements are key duties. The Systems Administrator will also collaborate with the IT Systems Manager on system improvements and long-term IT planning.
