Belay Technologies, a recipient of Baltimore Business Journal's Best Places to Work awards, is seeking a System Administrator to join our intel team. This role focuses on providing support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. The successful candidate will manage IT system infrastructure and related processes, offering support for day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution across various devices and systems. Responsibilities include Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, escalating issues as needed and communicating status to agency management and internal customers. Specific tasks involve supporting the dispatch system and addressing hardware problems, actively participating in their resolution. Collaboration with other network and platform engineers is essential.

Requirements

  • Experience: 15+ years of System Administrator experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
    • Substitution: 5+ years of additional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree, totaling 20 years of relevant experience.
  • Clearance: TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, and other IT systems.
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support for IT system issues.
  • Communicate status updates to agency management and internal customers.
  • Support the dispatch system and resolve hardware problems.
  • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems.
  • Install and load operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity, and configure network components.
  • Implement operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
  • Participate in a collaborative environment with other network/platform engineers and system/application administrators.
  • Perform OS and Software application patching (e.g. IAVA, Version updates).
  • Work with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Experience with:
    • Configuration and Maintenance of Virtual Machines
    • Linux and Windows operating systems
    • Scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Perl)
    • OS and Software application patching (e.g. IAVA, Version updates)
    • Container Technologies (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Attention to detail and time management
  • Excellent communication skills

Desired Skills

  • Experience with:
    • Identity and Access Management (IdAM) directories (Active Directory and/or LDAP)
    • Ticket tracking tools (e.g. Jira, Redmine, RT Tracker)
    • Familiarity with Ansible and Mongo
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multitask and work independently and with a team.
