Responsibilities

  • Supervise warehouse and distribution activities to promote safe, efficient, and optimal utilization of facilities, equipment, and personnel
  • Ensure work standards are met to receive, put away, and ship merchandise effectively and accurately
  • Perform effective, timely communications to colleagues and management
  • Maintain and protect warehouse integrity and security
  • Perform all duties safely, accurately, and meet set productivity goals
  • Send/receive positive communications to responsible colleagues
  • Monitor receiving and shipping procedures to ensure products are unloaded, received, put away, selected, and loaded efficiently for customer satisfaction
  • Communicate and reinforce policies and procedures (e.g., Coaching Maximizing Performance Program, Preferred Work Methods, Best Business Practices) to train colleagues in safety, job knowledge, and performance standards
  • Plan, schedule to cover vacation, holidays, workers' compensation, and other shift fill-ins, and coordinate personnel for warehousing activities
  • Monitor workflow, balance staff between work areas, and monitor productivity and volume using the labor management system
  • Monitor colleagues' work, perform ongoing evaluations, coach on expectations, reward above-average performance, and address poor performance
  • Reduce overtime using the Daily Planning Tool spreadsheet
  • Work effectively with Transportation to maximize receiving and shipping processes
  • Work with Inventory Control and Operations Systems to maintain product integrity, proper storage, and rotation
  • Foster an environment encouraging colleague involvement, quality work, and leadership for company, customer, and colleague benefit
  • Ensure all required colleague records, evaluations, and documentation are filed timely, consistently, and accurately
  • Act as a problem solver for colleague relations issues and department needs
  • Work effectively with Inventory Control to minimize warehouse shrink (product loss)
  • Responsible for appearance, maintenance, and security of warehouse and equipment
  • Observe and enforce all safety rules to eliminate accidents and injuries
  • Support safety efforts by participating on the safety committee, completing weekly coach cards for feedback on safe/unsafe behaviors, and resolving safety issues with the safety department
  • Complete stay interviews with direct reports and follow up on feedback items
  • Review and approve direct reports' time (hours worked, benefit leave, etc.) in the timeclock for accurate payroll purposes and biweekly deadlines
  • Ensure warehouse computers and RF equipment are used safely and professionally
