Requirements

  • Working knowledge of methods, work practices, and procedures regarding the safe construction, operation, and maintenance of electric T&D facilities and infrastructure at both secondary and primary operating voltages
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Maintain switching and tagging qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of computers and related technology, with ability to learn and utilize available information technologies, including PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience (previous experience in electric distribution preferred; previous supervisory experience implied)

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to ensure safe, timely, and efficient completion of work efforts related to construction, operation, maintenance, and emergency restoration of electric distribution and transmission systems
  • Ensure effective coordination among and between individuals and departments in the district/division
  • Actively promote and enforce a safety-first work environment and positive safety culture; set safety expectations, resolve safety issues timely, communicate safety lessons learned, and promote continuous learning of safe work methods
  • Make decisions and prioritize work to ensure safe and appropriate use of assigned resources
  • Set clear expectations, provide ongoing feedback to employees on performance, address performance issues, and conduct comprehensive performance reviews per bargaining unit contract
  • Ensure proper application of local union contracts and agreements; work with managers and employees to resolve grievances and concerns timely
  • Participate in pre-construction reviews and coordinate work with other utilities, Eversource departments, and outside contractors
  • Ensure work is completed within budgetary guidelines
  • Prepare, review, and approve time, expense, materials, and other company records accurately and timely per guidelines
  • Demonstrate and role model a customer-first attitude; seek to quickly resolve customer issues by collaborating with employees and other departments
  • Fulfill storm duty assignments and participate in on-call rotation as required
  • Continuously monitor the work planning process from initiation to close out for department work (Inside Supervisor)
  • Serve as primary construction liaison with Customer Care, Engineering, Warehousing/Transportation, Stations Operations, municipalities, and other utilities (Inside Supervisor)
  • Ensure all job packages are construction ready and material availability is adequate to meet construction schedules (Inside Supervisor)
  • Coordinate external agencies (e.g., Telco) and internal support to maintain critical path on large projects (Inside Supervisor)
  • Support scheduler in producing accurate schedules for all work within planning window (Inside Supervisor)
  • Work closely with Outside Supervisors to address emergent issues and customer priority jobs (Inside Supervisor)
  • Prepare weekly/monthly status reports highlighting key performance metrics for the district (Inside Supervisor)
