Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D
  • Adhere to all facility and FMCNA policies and procedures
  • Complete Compliance training within 45 days of hire if working more than 160 hours
  • Complete a survey at the end of each rotation
  • Ability to perform physical demands: frequent standing, bending, heavy lifting/moving patients (up to 40 lbs.), pushing/pulling equipment (up to 15 lbs.), desk/PC work, patient/staff interaction, travel between facilities
  • Work in health care environment with exposure to infectious diseases, moderate noise, air temperature control

Responsibilities

  • Support FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values, customer service philosophy, Compliance Program, regulatory/FMS policies, Quality Enhancement Program (QEP), CQI activities, process improvements for patient satisfaction and QEP goals
  • Function as part of hemodialysis health care team under direct supervision of licensed nurse and direction of shift Nurse/assigned PCT-P
  • Take vital signs
  • Escort patients to/from scale and weigh patients
  • Prepare labs (spinning, packaging)
  • Set-up hemodialysis machines (testing, stringing), perform pre-initiation safety check
  • Initiate or terminate treatment on patient with fistula or graft
  • Cannulate fistula and graft
  • Post-treatment: empty dialysis circuit, surface disinfect stations/machines, internal heat/chemical disinfect machines, remove needles and hold sites, check sites and apply bandages, check for residual disinfectant
  • Hand crank in emergency
  • Mix bleach water
  • Check blood sugars
  • Draw blood cultures and labs
  • Obtain pH and conductivity of machine
  • Prepare dialysate
  • Check residual chloramine and chlorine in water used to prepare dialysate
  • Assist in maintaining safe and clean working environment
