Requirements

  • Engineering or Engineering Technologist Degree
  • For Engineer Associate (SG-6): Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or acceptable alternative: non-ABET Bachelor's plus Master's/PhD from ABET-accredited program); passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam encouraged/preferred
  • For Engineer (SG7): Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or acceptable alternative), plus typically 2+ years of related engineering experience; Master's from ABET-accredited program may qualify for entry
  • Strong knowledge of substation electrical engineering, design, and equipment (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel, PowerBI, and Cognos for complex reporting
  • Experience with IPS Energy Asset Management software (preferred)
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design software (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for substation capital projects
  • Conduct grounding, lightning shielding, and lighting studies
  • Prepare station configurations and layouts
  • Collaborate with project planners to develop substation solutions
  • Develop functional and detail scoping documents with project stakeholders
  • Assist project managers with station engineering activities and deliverables using Primavera P6 project schedules
  • Oversee internal designers or consulting engineering firms on select projects
  • Support construction and professional field service personnel during project phases
  • Collaborate across various departments throughout project lifecycles
  • Support Facility Ratings compliance with NERC Reliability Standards FAC-008-3 R6, including safe, effective, and efficient project execution and documentation
  • Work with stakeholders to resolve data integrity and error issues related to facility ratings
  • Create training materials for facility ratings processes
  • Train employees and contractors on facility ratings applications and compliance-related data management
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance for data error tracking and compliance documents
  • Coordinate data input analysis and issue resolution across multidisciplinary teams
